Coopers Community Footy Update - Woodsmen press for finals

Western Magpies affiliate, the Woodsmen take on Coorparoo Kings this Friday night at the Nest at 730pm in a crucial encounter.

After a dominant undefeated 2014 Premiership Season and a Runners Up finish in 2015, the Woodies have had a tougher year in 2016 and currently sit 5th on the ladder with an 8-6 record and half a game clear of 6th place.

With 3 losses by less than 5 points and 2 more by less than 15 - the Woodsmen have been close enough but not good enough for much of the year, but hope to turn around their form as finals approach with a feeling in the squad that a Premiership is still very much for the taking in 2016.

There are 3 teams sitting well ahead of the pack at the top of the ladder, but pleasingly the Woodies have had wins over both 1st and 2nd place and went down by just 1 point to the 3rd place team - so the boys know their best is good enough when the whips are cracking come finals time.

With 2 rounds to go the Woodsmen need to secure at least one win to guarantee finals action, and this week looks like it will be the last home game of the year and in lieu of the QAFL bye we encourage the Magpies faithful to get down and support the Woodies in their quest to secure a finals berth.

It promises to be a hard fought battle against an experienced Coorparoo outfit and the Woodies would welcome plenty of support to get over the line.  The bar and kitchen will be open, so get down and enjoy a meal and a cracking game of amateur footy.
