COLTS TO BOUNCE BACK FOR GRAND FINAL BERTH
The Western Magpies Colts will be looking to bounce back this week as they take on Palm Beach-Currumbin in the Preliminary Final at Labrador on Saturday. Both teams appear evenly matched going into the must win final with a one all record throughout the home and away season. The young Magpies have had a big week on the track and are keen to repent for a poor showing in the first final last week.
A big week on the track has the Colts primed for a huge game against the Lions. Plenty of time has been spent working on their defensive pressure and contested ball work this week and the coaching staff believe that the boys are prepared as well as they could be for this week’s match. Hard man Sam de Nys drops out of the team due to injury which gives Finn Collison an opportunity in the ruck after a long lay-off with injury.
The backline will look to be at their attacking best this week with Sam Hartog adding some attacking flair and pace to the already quality group down back. The forwards will be looking to hit the scoreboard with a bit more regularity this week and Jordan Bonney and Jack Austin appear to be itching for a big game in front of goals. After having their colours lowered last week, the midfield group are sure to hit back hard and get on top around the contest. Lead by co-captain Max Webber, expect a big showing from this quality group of young footballers.
In some respects if the Pies win this game, the extra match will have toughened them up for a solid grand final contest next week. They were underdone last week after playing only one match in the previous month.
This match is shaping up as an absolute cracker so get down and support the boys as they look to progress to the Grand Final next Saturday. Starting at 9 am, the Colts would love a big crowd to get down to Labrador and support the boys.
