Westpoint Autos - Colts Review
Andrew Thomson
The Colts continued on their winning ways last weekend running away to a comfortable 33 point win over the PBC Lions on Saturday morning. The young Magpies hit the front early and where never headed. The Colts have hit their stride at the right time of the year and are starting to play some consistent football week in, week out.
The Magpies were able to get on top in the contest this time round and really put the clamps on PBC's outside runners giving our back line time to set up behind the ball and pick off the oppositions forays forward. The ever reliable Will Gillespie was once again solid as a rock down back and is giving ball users Zac Stegmeyer, Ethan Sivijs and Tristan Dowdy the confidence to run and attack from the half back line.
Young Tom Slatter played his best game of the year, working hard on the wing to provide some exciting run and carry, a great reward for his consistent efforts. Harry Keenan continues to improve and set the crowd alight with one of the final goals of the game whilst resting forward. The Magpies forward line once again proved dangerous with Hamish Campbell hitting up strongly through center half forward and young Abdullah Haddad providing plenty of spark at ground level.
The weekend's win was a real team effort and it's fantastic to see the group starting to come together, understand their role and all play their part on game day. With a bye in the final round, it's important that the Colts continue to keep the win column ticking over to hopefully lock in a second chance come finals time.
