WOODIES FACE LONG TIME RIVALS IN SUDDEN DEATH FINAL

Western Magpies affiliate, the Woodsmen face a 2nd week of elimination finals when they take on the Jimboomba Redbacks in a Semi Final at Collingwood Park at 730pm tonight.

The Woodsmen and Jimboomba have a long history, after facing off in consecutive Grand Finals in 2009 and 2010 after the Woodsmen were established in 2009 and many classic battles since.

The Woodsmen come off a hard fought elimination final win vs Sandgate last week, when they stormed home after a slow start to win by 11 points after trailing at every break.  However, once the Woodsmen got in front with 10 minutes to play, it was only going one way as the Sandgate players dropped their heads and accepted their fate.

In contrast, Jimboomba enjoyed 19 goal win against surprise finalist, Collingwood Park and should be relatively fresh approaching the game against a battle hardened Woodies outfit.

Out of the Woodsmen side go Matt Garland and David Fraser (both unavailable), Dylan Mudge (omitted) and reliable defender Chris La Burniy (broken hand).  However, the Woodies are able to welcome back gun full-back Paul Eaton from 6 weeks out, reliable defender Laurie Bere, the vastly improved tackling machine Dave Schultz and Blake Barkley back after a week due to an injury suffered in Round 16.

The Woodsmen would welcome as much support as possible from the Magpie faithful tonight in what promises to be an exciting game.
