CFMG Capital - Reserves Preview
Andrew Thomson
The Western Magpies have selected another strong Reserves side this week and will look to win again to consolidate a good start to the year.
Wilston Grange were narrowly defeated by 2015 Premiers Labrador last week while the Pies defeated a spirited Mt Gravatt in a high standard Reserves match.
The Pies have made several changes from last week's team with Sean Mewing, Blake McClennan, Gabe McKinnon, Jamie Page, Geoff Gibb and Sam Donovan coming into the side after being unavailable or missing out in Round 1. Jack Goodall also comes down from the Seniors.
Promoted to the Senior side are Rhys Bridge, Chris Hunt and Brenton Saunders while Lachie Dennis is unavailable and young small forward Riley Easton suffered a ruptured ACL in Round 1, joining another youngster Brayden Thomas in having a reconstruction and missing the rest of 2016. the club wishes both boys well in their recovery.
Round 2 promises to be another high standard game with the Magpies naming a side featuring plenty of players with extensive senior experience and Grange also having a strong list.
