Place Preview - Practice Match vs Morningside at Yeronga
Andrew Thomson
The Western Magpies will play Morningside at Yeronga on Saturday at 2 pm in the second week of the QAFL pre-season.
The Pies while always looking for a win, were not unhappy with the loss to Wilston Grange last week as there were good signs for the team and the new additions into the club in Gareth Crawford, Reece Bridge, Nick Barling and Ricky Dudley all showed they will be valuable inclusions.
Several Under 19 players were also given a game and will benefit from the experience.
The Pies will be bolstered for the match against the Panthers tomorrow with the inclusions of Brent Staker for his first outing in the black & white as well as club Co-captain and 2015 Grogan Medallist Callum Carseldine, half back Matt Davis and tough midfielder Tim McEvoy.
Staker will likely line-up at CHF with Carseldine and McEvoy bolstering the midfield. With Staker at CHF David Lewis will move to the flank and provide another mobile marking target and Alex Dickfos started to hang onto his marks last week in the wind so hopefully a still day will allow him to take some grabs.
The senior match will be preceded by a Reserves match starting at 11.30 am and the Pies Colts will also play a practice match this weekend.
