Reserves up for the challenge

The Western Magpies Reserves go into a winnable match against the 8th placed Palm Beach-Currumbin on Saturday but have again had several changes to the line-up. Sean Mewing, Luke Mitchell, Jai Humphrey and Ben Hooper have all been promoted to the Senior side but into the team comes regular senior player Cory Hopkins after a long injury lay off, 2014 best and fairest Jaden Morton and young speedster Jake Heard, also after a long injury lay-off.
The Pies will also look to youngsters Logan Murray, Matt Mazarolle and Matt Davis to continue their improvement and another youngster in Brodie Easton, who has had an injury interrupted start to the season and who had a taste of senior football in 2014, to continue to get better and push for a senior recall.
Matt deNys also resumed last week for half a game after a long period out with injury and showed he has the ability to also push for senior selection in coming weeks. Another youngster in Joel Workman must be close to a senior recall and experienced players in Matt Green, Gabe McKinnon and Matt Hockley need to lead the team in a match in which the Pies will be keen to get their first win of the season.
