2024 - YOUTH HEAD COACHES APPOINTED

The 2024 Youth Head Coaching Roles are appointed for 2024 with details as follows:

Tyson Kenny - u13 Mixed

Tyson is a local junior who progressed to Senior Football with the Magpies, and was part of the 2006 Premiership team and also rated in the Top 50 Magpies of all time. He is a Level 2 accredited coach, having coached junior teams and high school teams for many years and is also an accomplished educator with 16 years experience as a teacher and is currently Deputy Principal at a large private school.

Glenn Wright - u13 Div 1 Girls

Glenn is also a local junior, playing footy at Sherwood in the 80’s and 90’s before progressing through the Western Taipans u18s and playing State League with Western Districts. With multiple years junior coaching experience, Glenn also took the reigns of the Magpies u13 Div 4 girls in 2023 with great success and will be a familiar face for many in the squad.

Stuart Faulds - u15 Div 1 Boys

Stu started his footy journey at Noble Park in Melbourne, playing u18s and 19s at VFA Club Springvale (now the Casey Scorpions) before progressing to Senior footy in the Southern Football League with both Springvale and Dandenong. He arrived in QLD 17 years ago and took up junior umpiring to get back involved in footy before coaching Auskick through to u9s. Arriving at Sherwood 3 years ago, some off-season encouragement from fellow coaches saw the bug bite again, and Stu coached the u15 Div 3 outfit to Premiership success.

Joe Rizzo - u15 Div 1 Girls

Joe has been coaching Division 1 youth girls football for the past 3 seasons, with significant success. With a structured approach to coaching, he leaves no stone unturned to get the best out of his players both on and off the field, with a focus on both player development and fun! He is excited about the opportunity to support the growing number of girls who want to be challenged to train, think and play in an elite way and in a positive supportive and challenging environment that caters for all players irrespective of their skills and abilities.

Luke Mahoney - u17 Div 1 Boys

Luke was an accomplished player at Sherwood as a junior, and was also an elite track & field athlete in middle distance events. He then went on to play Senior Football at Wests and University and since his playing days finished has been involved with coaching at Sherwood, most recently as the head coach of u16 Div 1 team in 2022. Luke is passionate about developing junior footballers, with a focus on fitness, skill development and team camaraderie and is excited to return to the coaching ranks.

Chris Bloor - u17 Div 1 Girls

Going into his 7th consecutive year coaching youth girls football, Chris is uniquely experienced coaching girls at this level and getting the best out of their football journey. Having coached an u15 Division 1 Premiership, and taken u17 Division 1 teams to consecutive Grand Finals - Chris has also coached St Peters Open Girls team and was the inaugural u17 Division 1 coach at Sherwood in 2021.
